Flag

It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field, with masonry (see left image above), without masonry (see central image above) and with additional inscription "VILA DE" ... (see left image above)

The coat of arms is Sable a towered Argent ((masoned Sable)) with port and windows Gules, surrounded in chief by an arch of seven bees Or pointing to the centre. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE ALFÂNDEGA DA FÉ" (see right image above).
Please note that the new image does not show masonry lines on the walls of the tower, following Sérgio Horta´s new interpretation, as the blazon itself doesn´t mention it. Since however there is still a widespread use of the masonry lines (see left image above) and see here.

Another popular variant of the flag shows the scroll bearing only the toponym, without the unnecessary (and percieved as demeening) epithet "VILA DE" (= "town of"). Some examples in more or less official use see

  • municipal webpage.Another scroll text variant adds even more unencessary cruff than what the law describes: The full title of the municipal government spelled out: "CÂMARA MUNICIPAL DE ALFÂNDEGA DA FÉ" — see example in official use municipal webpage
This is incorrect since "câmara municipal" is only the executive body (in spite of long-story-short historical non-flag related details) and the deliberative body, a sort of municipal parliament, has a different designation ("assembleia municipal") — yet the armigerous entity is the municipality itself, of which those two bodies are, in equal status, the representatives of.

    Presentation of Alfândega da Fé

"Alfândega da Fé" means literaly "Faith Toll" and apparently this is not referred to in the arms. Alfândega da Fé municipality had 4324 inhabitants in 2021, and it is divided in 12 communes, covering 31,95 km². It belongs to the Bragança District, to the traditional province and would be administrative region Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, and to the current NUT2/CCR region Norte.
